Speech and Language Therapy
We are deeply committed to ensuring that we support the development of our children's speech and language to ensure that when they leave our setting they are well prepared for the next stage of their education. We work in close partnership with local speech and language therapists to support children on the caseload and sign post children to drop in sessions.
For many years now, the school has commissioned the services of a speech and language therapist, Mrs Margaret Brent (Margaret also works as an NHS SALT). This additional support from Margaret ensures that we quickly intervene and support children if needed. Children are supported in a number of ways depending on their individual needs this may include individual target work, partner work, working in small groups and as part of our regular teaching sessions.
In the nursery classes we use the Wellcomm programme to help us identify and support any needs.
We are very proud of our successful intervention work, which under the direction of Margaret Brent, is supported by our qualified and experienced staff (Elklan trained) - Mrs. Debbie Penwill, Mrs Cess Bone, Mrs Shelley Burley, Mrs. Hannah Webber and Mrs Rachel Ford.
