Admissions for Ryesings Pre-school class and the Nursery Classes
Applications for admission to the pre-school class and the nursery classes are made directly to the school. Please contact Mrs Sheridan Martin in the school office for an appointment to come and visit the school. You can obtain an application form from the school office or download one from our website.
Our Admissions timeline for Nursery places September 2019 is:
Closing date for applications Friday 15th March
Offers sent out week commencing 25th March
Accept your place by Friday 5th April
Parents/Carers will be invited in to complete final paperwork on Wednesday 5th June
In order to help you make your decision, prospective parents and carers are welcomed and encouraged to visit the school during session times. A member of staff is always made available to explain our school layout, areas of work, and methods. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS), recognising each child as an individual and helping them on the road to independent learning. Active learning is essential - with the support of trained staff to encourage further thinking and discovery.
Summer Born delay places
Summer born delay places are available for children born between April and August. Priority places are given to children already attending the school. Please speak your child's teacher or the Head teacher if you wish to explore this option.
Once you have accepted a nursery place
For families new to the school, with children who have not attended our pre-school, we offer home visits. These visits are an invaluable opportunity for us to get to know each other. The children are often really excited about the teachers coming to their home and this enables us to develop strong and trusting relationships with you and your child as quickly as possible.
Parents are also invited to re-visit the school with their child at one of our "Open Afternoons". This is an opportunity for you and your child to experience the Early Years provision and have a real "hands-on" session. At this time you will also collect a "Welcome Pack" which contains useful information about the school.
There is another opportunity to visit, with your child, the day before he/she is officially admitted. Other family members are also welcome to join in the visit, eg: Grandparents. During this visit the head teacher will run an induction session for parents and carers.
If you have any further queries regarding the admissions process please contact the school on 01992 462820.
To meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998, schools previously needed to issue a Fair Processing Notice (FPN) to pupils and/or parents summarising the information held about pupils, why it is held and the third parties to whom it may be passed on. The Information Commissioner has recommended that the term 'Fair Processing Notice' be replaced by 'Privacy Notice'. The DCSF is therefore adopting this approach in its data collections from 2010, and has reviewed the whole process of issuing Privacy Notices. The new approach is that a single, short and easily understandable Privacy Notice will be provided to pupils and staff by the school or LA. If you would like to read a copy of this document please use the following link. Privacy Notice.
